Every Fall the people of Charlotte can step back into the time of knights and kings and feel like lords and ladies for a day. Of course I'm talking about the Carolina Renaissance Festival! Every weekend from October 3rd- November 22nd you can find the king and queen of the festival hosting jousting matches between mounted knights and craftsmen selling their wears in the marketplace. There are also a myriad of shows from comedy to juggling to falconry. Additionally, there are rides and carnival style games with a medieval twist! My favorite is throwing axes!
On top of all of that, there is great food! Turkey legs, steak on a steak, sausage on a steak, chili and soup in bread bowls, and for those of you looking for something more leafy, they have salads as well along with a lot of other foods and drinks as I can't list them all here! I would highly recommend bringing cash with you as most of the food vendors in years past have only accepted cash. There have been ATMs on site in the past but bringing cash is easier. If you have never been, be prepared for a real treat!
They even have a bunch of different theme weekends!
