Here are some tips for those attending the PGA Championship in Charlotte:

"With one month to go before the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, in Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 7-13, the PGA of America is offering helpful tips for the 200,000 anticipated spectators to help finalize their plans for attending the event.

“With the 2017 PGA Championship just around the corner, we’re excited to welcome golf fans from across the world to Charlotte for the city’s first-ever major championship,” said 2017 PGA Championship Director Jason Mengel. “We are making every effort to ensure a great experience at the event and want to ensure spectators are prepared.”

Here are the top five spectator suggestions for planning their visit to the PGA Championship:

Plan transportation now

Spectators should use one of the recommended transportation methods arranged by the PGA. Anyone with a valid PGA Championship ticket will be able to ride the CATS LYNX light rail system for free to the Sharon Road West Station, where a complimentary shuttle bus will take them to the Main Spectator Bus Terminal. Riders must have a valid PGA Championship ticket good for the day and present to fare inspectors when asked for a valid pass. Click here for details on parking and train schedules. An UBER pick-up/drop-off lot will be located in close proximity to Quail Hollow Club with its own dedicated shuttle service. Gleneagles Rd. will be closed, however walk-in gates and bike racks will be available at the Main Spectator Entrance adjacent to the club’s main entrance. Off-site parking for the general public is available for advance purchase only. A complimentary shuttle service will take spectators from the lot to the Main Spectator Bus Terminal. Ticket holders looking to purchase parking can click here for more information.

Pack the right bag with approved items

Bags carried through the gates at Quail Hollow must not be larger than 10” x 10” x 10” in their natural state. Backpacks and drawstring bags, regardless of size, are not permitted. Upon arrival all bags will be searched and all spectators must pass through magnetometers to gain access to the Championship grounds. Mobile phones must be kept on silent or vibrate, and camera flashes should be turned off. Mobile photography and audio/video capturing is permitted in all areas during practice rounds (Monday-Wednesday); however, it is prohibited during Championship Rounds (Thursday-Sunday) anywhere within 100 yards of competition or when requested by players, caddies, marshals, volunteers, security or Championship staff and officials.

Stay hydrated

August temperatures in Charlotte average a high of 88 degrees. Spectators are advised to wear sunscreen and a hat for protection from the sun. A wide selection of food and beverage options will be available throughout the grounds, including local fare. Hydration stations and cooling fans will be onsite to help keep spectators comfortable. Spectators are encouraged to bring one unopened, sealed bottle of water with them to the Championship each day.

Know before you go

Spectators are asked to review the Spectator Guide, available here, prior to arriving onsite at Quail Hollow Club. Items like the full Admission Policy, Junior Admission Policy, the Military Policy and details on conduct, customs and etiquette can be found within the guide.

Have fun

The strongest field in golf will descend on Quail Hollow Club on Aug. 7-13 – including nearly all of the top 100 players plus 20 PGA of America members who qualified at last month’s PGA Professional Championship – so fans should be ready to cheer on some of the best golf of the year."
